2 Dead, Traffic Stalled After Wilson County Highway 109 Collision

Cause of Deadly Wilson County Collision Still Under Investigation

Two people died and traffic was delayed for hours on Highway 109 in Wilson County after a serious crash on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2023.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 12. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Altima was traveling south on Highway 109 when it crossed the center line and struck a Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction.

Deadly Wilson County Crash Kills Two

The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to spin out of control. The driver of the Altima, 23-year-old John Doe, and the driver of the Camry, 55-year-old Jane Doe, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency all responded to the scene. The highway was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the crash.

Traffic Delays Persist After Fatal Wilson County Crash

The crash caused major traffic delays in both directions of Highway 109. Traffic was diverted onto local roads, and motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about it to contact them.
