The Chad Daybell trial begins: Prosecutor paints him as a man motivated by sex, money, and power
Idaho man Chad Daybell is being tried for the murders of his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, and her two children, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow.
In his opening statement, the prosecutor depicted Daybell as a man who was motivated by sex, money, and power. The prosecutor said that Daybell believed he could get away with the murders because he had a "special relationship" with God.
Daybell, 55, is a self-published author who has written books about near-death experiences and the end of the world. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The trial is expected to last several weeks. It is being held in Fremont County, Idaho, where the murders took place.
