Pacific Tropical Weather Outlook

The Central North Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) is issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Six-E, located about 1,235 miles east-northeast of Hilo, Hawaii. The depression is moving west-northwest at 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 35 mph. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
The CPHC is also monitoring a tropical wave located about 1,000 miles east-southeast of Hilo. The wave has become better organized, and environmental conditions are favorable for development. The wave is expected to become a tropical depression or storm later tonight or Tuesday.
Residents in Hawaii should monitor the progress of these systems and be prepared to take action if necessary.
The next tropical weather outlook will be issued by the CPHC at 5:00 AM HST on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
