USWNT Announces 23-Player Roster for 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski Chooses Veteran-Heavy Squad for World Cup Defense
CHICAGO, Ill. (June 21, 2023)
With exactly one month remaining until the USA's opening match of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, U.S. Women's National Team head coach Vlatko Andonovski has announced his 23-player roster for the tournament. The squad features a wealth of experience, led by veteran forwards Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, and defender Kelley O'Hara.
The USWNT will open its World Cup campaign on July 22 against No. 4-ranked Netherlands in Auckland, New Zealand. The Americans will also face No. 21-ranked Vietnam on July 27 in Auckland and No. 16-ranked Portugal on August 1 in Wellington, New Zealand.
Andonovski's roster includes 10 players who were part of the USWNT's 2019 World Cup-winning squad, including Morgan, Rapinoe, O'Hara, Becky Sauerbrunn, Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher, Lindsey Horan, Abby Dahlkemper, Rose Lavelle, and Christen Press.
