Google Announces New Policies for Blogger.com
Restrictions on Hate Speech and Harassment
Google has announced a new set of policies for Blogger.com, its blogging platform. The new policies are designed to address hate speech, harassment, and other forms of harmful content.
What's New?
The new policies include the following changes:
- Hate speech is now explicitly prohibited. This includes content that incites hatred or violence against individuals or groups based on their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Harassment is now also explicitly prohibited. This includes content that is intended to cause fear, intimidation, or distress to an individual or group.
- Google has also expanded its definition of harmful content to include content that is intended to deceive or mislead users, or that is otherwise likely to cause harm.
Why These Changes?
Google says that these changes are necessary to ensure that Blogger.com is a safe and welcoming space for all users. The company has seen an increase in the amount of hate speech and harassment on the platform in recent months, and it is taking steps to address this problem.
