But He Is Not One To Shout About It

Jannik Sinner is No1 seed at Wimbledon 2024

But he is not one to shout about it

And then there is Jannik Sinner

It is not that he is the reluctant No1, it's just that when you meet Jannik Sinner you get the impression that he is a little embarrassed at the attention that is being thrust upon him since becoming world No1. You can see his point: as recently as July he was ranked No10, so to have jumped up the rankings to No1 in just over a year is a bit of a shock for him.

"I'm still getting used to it," he said when asked about being the top-ranked player in the world. "It's a strange feeling, but I'm trying to embrace it. I think it's a great opportunity for me to keep learning and improving, and to try and achieve my goals."

Sinner's rise to the top of the rankings has been meteoric. He only turned 21 in August, and he is already the youngest player to reach No1 since Rafael Nadal in 2005. He has won 10 singles titles on the ATP Tour, including the Miami Open and the Rome Masters. He also reached the final of the US Open in 2022, and the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2023.

Sinner's success is due in part to his all-court game. He has a big serve, a powerful forehand, and a solid backhand. He is also a good mover and a smart tactician. He is able to adapt his game to any opponent, and he is always looking for ways to improve.

Sinner is a role model for young players around the world. He shows that it is possible to achieve anything if you work hard and believe in yourself. He is also a great ambassador for the sport of tennis, and he is sure to inspire many more people to pick up a racket and start playing.
